Panama City: building for the future

The more modern areas of Panama City are in a hi rise building frenzy.  Right now, more than 110 hi rise projects are under construction, with 127 already built.

At a glance - and a single day's tour of a city is just a glance - Panama City appears to be bulldozing their waterfront slum areas and reclaiming the foreshore for hi rise holiday apartments.  The plan is to sell these to overseas buyers, especially from the US and Europe.  Our guide tells us that we could be eligible to buy property and live in Panama City if we pass one small asset test: prove that we have earnings of over $US800 a month.
